Business is thriving in Downtown Fresno, where a wave of new local restaurants and businesses is revitalizing the area. Among the notable openings, Dads Cookies is preparing to launch a new location at The Garage on Fulton Street. Meanwhile, Moses McQueen’s is transforming a century-old home into a restaurant and bar, targeting an opening date in early March on the corner of Van Ness Avenue and Cesar Chavez Boulevard.
The recent surge in local eateries reflects a broader trend observed by local officials. According to Councilmember Miguel Arias, there is a growing consumer preference for shopping at independent businesses rather than national chains. “Across this country, we’re seeing consumers more interested in shopping local with mom-and-pop shops instead of national food chains,” Arias stated. He also highlighted an increase in pedestrian traffic, noting, “We’re seeing a lot more pedestrian traffic in Downtown Fresno than we’ve had in the last 25 years.”
The revitalization of Downtown Fresno is not limited to dining options. Additional businesses are also slated to open soon, including a new Marriott hotel expected to welcome guests in approximately three months. Additionally, Zaatar Euro Bistro plans to establish a weekday lunch location at the Galleria in Civic Center Square.
This growth in local businesses signals a promising future for Downtown Fresno, as residents and visitors alike embrace the unique offerings of the community. The convergence of increased foot traffic and a desire for local shopping is breathing new life into the area, making it an exciting time for both entrepreneurs and diners. The combination of new restaurants and services is set to enhance the local economy and foster a vibrant community atmosphere.
