DART Suspends Train Service in Downtown Dallas for Safety Checks

Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) will temporarily suspend train service in the Central Business District (CBD) of downtown Dallas on December 10, 2023. The shutdown begins at 21:30 and is expected to last until 04:00 the following day, December 11, 2023. This pause is necessary to conduct planned safety maintenance and testing on the transit system.

During the suspension, DART will modify train operations. The Red Line will continue to run between Parker Road and SMU/Mockingbird, as well as between EBJ Union and Westmoreland stations. The Blue Line will operate between Downtown Rowlett and SMU/Mockingbird and between EBJ Union and UNT Dallas stations. The Green Line will run between Baylor and Buckner and between Victory and North Carrollton/Frankford stations. Finally, the Orange Line will operate between Victory and DFW Airport stations.

For those needing access to Parker Road, DART advises transferring to a Red Line train at SMU/Mockingbird. The Silver Line trains will not be affected by this service interruption.

Alternative Transportation Options Available

To assist passengers during the service suspension, DART will provide shuttle buses operating every 20 minutes along designated routes. Green Line passengers can transfer to a shuttle bus at either Victory or Baylor Station, with stops including Victory, West End, Pearl/Arts District, Deep Ellum, and Baylor stations.

Passengers using the Red, Blue, and Orange Lines can catch a shuttle bus at EBJ Union or SMU/Mockingbird Station, with service to EBJ Union, West End, Akard, St. Paul, Pearl/Arts District, CityPlace/Uptown, and SMU/Mockingbird stations.

DART encourages riders to plan their travel in advance if they intend to move through the CBD on Wednesday evening. Some trips may require a shuttle bus transfer, potentially extending travel times.

DART staff, volunteers, and police officers will be present at stations during this period to assist passengers and ensure a smooth transition. Riders are urged to remain aware of the changes and allow extra time for their journeys.
